Top stand-up and comedy writer Kate returns to her hometown to preview
her much anticipated new Edinburgh Show.
Saturday 30 April 2011 - Time: 8.45pm - Price: £5 - The Attic at Benson Blakes
Kate Smurthwaite The News At Kate 2011
In theory, Kate will be performing her latest Edinburgh show 'The News at Kate
2011', a topical political satirical show with lots of highbrow stuff in it. But I think we all know that really, once she gets going Kate will want to talk about Bury, growing up here and what a weird but wonderful bunch we are. Expect to vaguely remember snogging someone she mentions, in a garage in the early '90s!

The Fringe 2011 Big Gig, with headline act Chris T-T and many more
Chris T-T returns to the Bury Fringe to headline the 'Big Gig', after having so much fun on his previous visit with Jim Bob (Carter USM). He's touring new EP 'Words Fail Me' and also gearing up to take a one-man show to Edinburgh Fringe of A.A. Milne poems set to music.
Already one of the most consistently praised singer-songwriters for a decade, recently TT
has developed from insurgent roots into a major influence over a generation of UK
singers in both the folk and punk-rock scenes. Veering from early albums of psych folkrock
(years before it was de rigeur) to raised-fist protest songs, from hard-edged indie
rock, to piano-led treacle-black heartbreak, he bewilders and bewitches at every turn.
Chris will be supported by Alex Highton, fresh from his recent appearance at SXSW in
Austin, Texas, along with the winners of BurySound 2010 Twisted Piglet.
There will also be sets from The Rebellious Jukebox, Suffolk/Essex based alt-folk outfit
Beanstalk, Norwich's own Electric Youth Revolt and Bury St Edmunds favourites The Ivan
Wilson Concept.
All in all a fantastic line-up!
